I have never seen rain like this! There’s been no let up in days, and apparently it’s set to continue into next week. I took this photo in the morning, by lunchtime it was all dark and thundering down with rain - a little how I imagine the end of the world might look.I foolishly tried to get in to uni again. After having soggy feet all day yesterday cos my boots leaked, today I went with rolled up jeans and flipflops… but by the time I got to my office I was soaked through up to my knees and pretty damp above that! All of the pathways are several inches deep in water, and they’ve had to close the main road through campus because the stream that flows under it is now a river that flows over it. Wading birds are moving in. At 2.30 we all got an e-mail telling us to ‘go home before the roads get any more flooded’.Soooo… I’m kick-starting the Yellow-Welly-Appeal! Help me get some wellys so I can leave the house before I run out of food! All donations gratefully received, no matter how big or small
Update: Friday night, still raining…

Becks is a marine ecology PhD student, living in Queensland (Australia), Dumaguete (Philippines) and London (UK). Marinegirl is her online alter-ego. She dreamt her up as as super-gorgeous superhero saving the underwater world (if you've seen Captain Planet, you get the idea). She is not, and never will be, in the marines.
would this be the rainy season then!
