Well I’ve arrived! Am still horribly jetlagged - can’t stay up past 8pm, wake up around 6am and want to eat at all the wrong times, but that should get sorted in a few days.The weather is perfect, sunny with some white fluffy clouds and lovely and warm. People keep reminding me that its the depths of winter though, and to enjoy it while it lasts!JCU is totally different to Sheffield Uni, as it’s on a campus out of town. One of the first things I noticed is that it seems really quiet… probably because it’s quite spread out. There’s lots of trees and grassy areas between all the buildings and some cool birds with bright blue heads flying around too - it all seems very exotic! Theres a pool and sports grounds and a little covered bit with shops, a couple of coffee-and-cake places, a bookshop, a foos place, a shop thats a bit rubbish, a gym, a post office and best of all - a Mac shop! There goes all my money then.I’m staying on campus in uni accommodation for a couple of weeks until I find somewhere better to live. Its actually not too bad, I have a little lounge, ‘kitchenette’ and bathroom to myself at the moment, although apparently someone else is moving in tomorrow. It’s all regulation magnolia paint, but is new and clean and has airconditioning. Meals are suprisingly good too, and everyone seems friendly, although I was at a table with people discussing their 18th birthday parties… I feel so old!Ok I’m off to work out how the satellite tv works, apparently futurama is on!
